Small Employer of the Year Regional Training Award 2012
And the winner is….Ceilite!
Ceilite has now been recognised as one of the best employees in South East London by taking out theregions “National Training Award for 2012” beating 1500 other contenders.
This superb achievement from Ceilite was won through their on-going training of employees, allowing their staff to up-skill themselves along with reducing the amount of accidents at the company by 50%. This has been achieved by their proactive approach to delivering outstanding training programmes within the company.
Ceilite now gets the opportunity to proceed through to the finals of the national judging to hopefully take out the UK’s National Training Awards title.

Entry title: Safety Card Talks based on tool box talks structure using the playing card deck index
The Judges were impressed by what they described as a clever, self-designed programme which has had a huge impact on all the employees involved in the initiative. It is an innovative approach to what is often seen as a dry and boring subject area and has made Health and Safety exciting. The Panel would have liked more specific information about the goals of the learning initiative.
The Panel liked the way in which the delivery process is learner led and demonstrates real enthusiasm for practical learning in a real-world setting. They noted that the initiative was highly cost-effective, sustainable and has the potential to make a difference to many other small organisations in the construction industry.
The Judges were very interested in the way in which the company has taken a holistic approach that integrates on-job learning with a performance management process designed to support and sustain the effective use of the constantly updated learning resource. The validating Judges were pleased to see what is clearly an exemplary approach to on-job Health and Safety training which has transformed ownership of this process within the organisation.
Construction Awards 2012
Ceilite were proud to be finalists for two categories for the Construction News Awards 2012. Our Safety Card Talks were finalists for the Training Award and the Safety Award. We were highly commended in the Safety category and were proud to be finalists of the Training Award. Our entry for both was for our Safety Card Talks. Whilst we have been finalists for many awards the Construction News Awards were one of our most proudest accolades as we were able to stand out in the Construction Awards when our specialism is Air-conditioning and Heat pump systems.

Ceilite has built an enviable reputation as an air conditioning and heat pump specialist, offering a complete service. Ceilite has also designed and developed training cards, intended to give guidance on site related tasks.
Judges remarks ‘ this is a company whose procedural approach to business shows high regard to health and safety and whose training cards have been widely praised’.

Ceilite were proud to be finalists for the Training and Safety category for these prestigious awards, our entry for both categories was for our Safety card talks, that consisted of 55 talks covering key subjects in site safety providing advice and guidance to site operatives.

Ceilite were winners of the Safety Initiative of the Year, a panel of judges were unanimous in granting this award for Ceilites work within the industry. We highlighted the safety requirements related to oxygen and acetylene usage.

Health and Safety area a top agenda. We set standards and have developed Health and Safety procedures that were not already in the public domain. All employees have assisted in the compilation of the Health and Safety related documentation. This self ownership ensures a natural progression to areas not already covered.

Regional finalists of the Investors in People Award for Business Improvement Through People. Ceilites policy is to employ apprentices (not pre-qualified site engineers) and train them as required. This policy is at the heart of all we do and ensures a fully skilled workforce for the future.

We were National Finalists for the Health and Safety Award and were highly commended in this category. Ceilites commitment to Health and Safety is of the highest importance throughout the company. To have that endorsed by the National Business Awards was an incentive for all at Ceilite to continue to strive to set the standards higher.

Ceilite were finalists for this Safety Initiative of the Year Award for their work in compiling the Health and Safety Committee. As a design and installation company that works for both the end user and main contractor on various sites, Ceilite foresaw the importance of a Health and Safety Committee back in April 2002 and realised they wanted everyone to have the opportunity to work towards a safer workplace.
